The Rutland Historical Commission is currently working to preserve the site of the Rutland Prison Camp. In addition to ensuring the preservation of the remaining structures, the Commission is working to provide an educational experience to visitors via the addition of informational signs throughout the site. These informational kiosks will showcase the history of various buildings along with original photographs to complete the visual experience for visitors.
The Rutland Historical Commission also has several other initiatives and goals that have been identified, including:
Get the Franklin T Wood House Library and Museum and Franklin T Wood Studio on the National Register of Historic Places.
Ensure necessary repairs are made to the Wood House and Franklin T Wood Studio, to ensure their preservation and site safety and preservation of significant historical contents.
Installing a new sign at the Central Tree Monument.
