Each year, property owners around the Commonwealth are required to pay taxes assessed by the Assessors. All taxpayers have the right to file for an abatement of their taxes if they believe the property has not been fairly assessed. Information regarding applications and deadlines to file for abatements is available at the Assessors Office. Keep in mind that the bills by law must be assessed to the record owner as of January 1st of a given year, but the assessment date is June 30th for what is being assessed on the parcel of land.
