Summer Fun Counselor
Will provide supervision, instruction and enrichment to Summer Fun program participants. Required to lead a schedule of diverse programs and recreation activities to children ages 5-13. Experience working with children preferred. Must be available June 25-August 17 as well as for training and meeting dates as required. Summer Fun Counselors report to the Summer Fun Director. 30-40 hours per week, schedule as assigned. First Aid and CPR certification required.
The Head Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing the daily aquatics functions of the Rutland Town Pool and is the first line of authority in handling staff and patron concerns that may arise. The Head Guard is responsible for patron safety and enjoyment of the pool facility and achieves these by: scheduling lifeguards and WSIs to ensure proper coverage, supervising Lifeguards effectively and providing direction when needed, ensuring compliance with all Board of Health and Recreation Department policies and procedures, overseeing and assisting with the cleanliness and water testing of the pool on a day to day basis, planning and overseeing Swim Lessons, working cooperatively with the Pool House Coordinator, and communicating with maintenance/CPO staff when the need arises. The Head
Lifeguard will also be part of the guarding/teaching schedule. The Head Lifeguard reports to the Recreation Coordinator.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Current Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications required.
Supervisory and/or leadership experience and excellent communication skills required.
Must be available June 20-August 25.
Lifeguards & Water Safety Instructors
Will serve as a Lifeguard for the Rutland Town Pool and enforce the rules and regulations of swimming pool operation as regulated by the Board of Health and Recreation Department. Additionally, Water Safety Instructors will plan and conduct group swimming lessons for children at a variety of swimming levels. Must teach classes in the water as needed, keep accurate class records, and maintain certification in Water Safety Instruction if applicable. Other duties include maintaining the cleanliness of the pool facility as assigned including vacuuming, brushing, and water testing. Must enjoy working with children, have a cooperative attitude, and be able to work as part of a team. Must be at least 16 years old. Must be available to work during lesson weeks (July 8-
August 4). Preference given to candidates who can commit to working until August 25. Lifeguards and WSI Instructors report to the Head Lifeguard.
Snack Shack/Pool Attendant
Will serve as both a pool house attendant and a Snack Shack attendant as needed. Duties include but are not limited to: selling/checking pool passes, answering patron questions, signing children up for swim lessons, selling food and beverages, and maintaining safe and clean pool, Snack Shack, and restroom environments. Must obtain Serv-Safe Food Handler certification (online course, costs $15), be able to handle money and make change, and perform well in a multitask environment. Hours include weekdays and weekends as assigned. Snack Shack/Pool Attendants report to the Pool House Coordinator. First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
