Annual Census Forms (Street Listing) for 2018 have been mailed to Rutland households. Please add any members of your household (including children) who are not listed on the form and return it in the envelope provided as soon as possible.
2018 Dog License Application Forms and a Recreational Marijuana Survey are included in the census mailing.
Do not change your voter registration on the census form. To change your party affiliation or to register to vote please use the link the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s online voter registration system. A confirmation email is mailed from the clerk's office of any changes. https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/
If you do not receive a form by January 18th please call the town clerk office at 508-886-4104 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. The Annual Census is conducted each year as required by Massachusetts State Law.
The census is used to maintain the voting list and to assist in town planning for programs such as those for the elderly. It also provides projections for school enrollment and public safety needs.
An up to date census count is the basis for the allocation of State and Federal Funds and Grants. It also provides proof of residency, which is often necessary for veterans’ benefits. If a family member is in the service or away at school, you may keep them on your census as long as they are not a registered voter elsewhere.
