RECREATION COMMITTEE BY-LAWS
Section  1.   There shall be a Recreation Committee consisting of seven (7) legal voters of the town, who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen, as hereinafter provided.
        
Section  2.   The Board of Selectmen, when this by-law becomes effective, shall appoint two members of said committee for terms of one year, two members for terms of two years and three members for terms of three years. Annually thereafter, the Board of Selectmen shall appoint two members of said committee for terms of three years. Every third year the Board of Selectmen shall appoint three members of said committee for three years.  The terms of office of said members shall commence immediately upon qualification.  Said committee shall choose its own officers and shall serve without pay, and it shall cause to be kept a true record of its proceedings.

Section  3.   The Board of Selectmen shall fill any vacancy which may occur in its membership, after recommendation of the Recreation Committee, attested copy of which shall be sent by the secretary to the Town Clerk.  If any member is absent from five consecutive meetings of said committee, except in case of illness, his/her position shall be deemed to be vacant and shall be filled as herein provided.  The term of office of any person so chosen to fill a vacancy shall expire upon completion of the unexpired term of the member in whose office such vacancy originally occurred.

Section  4.   It shall be the duty of the Recreation Committee to make an annual report of its doings, with recommendations relative to recreational matters, to be contained in the Annual Report.

Section  5.   It shall remain the duty of the Department of Public Works to continue to maintain any and all Town owned playgrounds or fields.

Section  6.   It shall be the duty of the Recreation Committee to recommend, subject to appointment of the Board of Selectmen, a Director of Recreation to serve for a term of his/her office.

        DIRECTOR OF RECREATION BY-LAW

Section  1.   There shall be a Director of Recreation, who after recommendation of the Recreation Committee shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen, as hereinafter provided.

Section  2.   The Board of Selectmen, when this by-law becomes effective, shall appoint, after recommendation of the Recreation Committee, the Director of Recreation.  The term of office of said Director shall commence immediately upon qualification and shall be for the term of one year.

Section  3.   The Director of Recreation shall report to the Recreation Committee and attend all their meetings, as a non-voting member.
